Images and photo galleries

In this corner I will post some of the pictures taken during few trips here, there and back again. I like hiking (well, the easy way ...) and I do love wandering into national parks or being immersed into nature, although I am afraid that does not imply being a fit/active type :-)

The first set is from a trip to Isle de La Reunion, a small island about 2500 square km, with little more that 700,000 souls situated in the Indian Ocean, about 800 km East of Madagascar. Can you guess that this is french territory? The geological origin is vulcanic, with eruptions and lava flows happening every few years. The inner part is mostly made out of the collapsed ancient calderas which are filled with all sort of tropical vegetation, buiding up splendid amphitheaters with few farmer settlements (most of the population lives on the coast). This environment is really a hiker's dream, but enough words, jump to the pictures.

Next gallery is a mix of pictures pictures taken in various locations in Chile. Another paradise for the wanderer, with plenty of fantastic scenarios. Just think about the fact that it stretches more than 4000 km from the peruvian borders to Antartica region! Its average width is about 200 km and is enclosed between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes mountains. You can really find any kind of climate, vegetation, geology etc ... Oh, and let us not forget the fascinating Easter Island (work in progress)

On July 18th 2004 I went to see the Kaltenberg Ritterturnier, very cool indeed, I won't say more here. Have a look at the official website which contains most informations, and here are the pictures (thanks to Mara for lending me her digital camera!).

Last galleries are from a short but intense trip to Bulgaria in June 2005. Journeying through the country (save the sea side, left for another time) with a rented car is likely the best way to get to know it. Only five days, but each day visiting a new city or village, was intense indeed! Enjoy the pictures from the first day, on the way from Stara Zagora toward Veliko Tarnovo and some images of the city itself. The second day was spent mostly in the ancient fortress of Tsarevets (near Veliko Tarnovo). Next day we headed to the historical beautiful village of Koprivshtitsa. On the fourth day we explored the old town of Plovdiv, and the last day was spent in the capital Sofia. A big thank to Margrethe for sharing her shots! (I mean camera shots ...)
